February 12, 2021 - No Evidence of Sunshine Violation in GOAA Investigation

In response to a request from the 9th Circuit State Attorney,  Governor Ron DeSantis appointed State Attorney Phil Archer to assume responsibility for the review of investigative findings by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement into possible violations of Florida’s Sunshine Laws by board members of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

Today, (Feb 12) our office released the result of that review and the following statement by State Attorney Phil Archer, “After an exhaustive investigative effort by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and attorneys from my office, a detailed and comprehensive report was presented for my review on January 26, 2021.

The FDLE report concludes with the determination that 'During the course of the investigation, no information was identified that indicated a violation of Florida Sunshine Law occurred'. After carefully examining the report and evidence, I concur the actions of board members of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority were not in violation of Florida’s Sunshine Law, and no further action will be taken by this office.

Chief Assistant State Attorney Stacey Salmons who coordinated the investigation with FDLE, has prepared a detailed written analysis providing the basis for today’s decision. That report, along with the supporting investigative materials, have been furnished to the appropriate parties in this matter.”
