State Attorney Norman R. Wolfinger honored top workers in the field of victims' rights today at a luncheon in observation of National Crime Victims' Rights Week at the Rialto Hilton in Melbourne.

Top Law Enforcement Officer of the Year is Sgt. Bob Bobay from the Cocoa Police Department. Bobay was cited for his excellent rapport with victims including sharing information about how investigations were progressing. He has been with the Cocoa Police Department for 15 years.

The recipient of the Kathy King Victim Advocate of the Year Award was Nancy Sley, Brevard County Sheriff's Office Victim Advocate. George Taylor, commander of the DAV 109, received a certificate of merit for his work with homeless veterans in Brevard County. LeAnn Richardson, Restitution Clerk for the Clerk of the Courts, was recognized for Outstanding Service from an agency in the community or criminal justice system. Christine Adams, State Attorney's Office Witness Coordinator, received the Outstanding Service Award from within the prosecutor's office.

State Attorney Norm Wolfinger presented the Howard Futch Memorial Leadership Award to Vicki and Junny Rios-Martinez for sharing their community activism and inspirational strength with Brevard County. The Martinez' hosted the "Celebration in the Park" last summer for the community, to share with them the healing they have received after the tragic loss of their son, Junny Rios-Martinez, at a murder's hands in 1991.

Also recognized at the event was Assistant State Attorney Russ Bausch who was named the Attorney of the Year (not pictured). The award recipients were selected from nominations received from the community and members of the criminal justice system.

Keynote speaker at the event was Andrea Conte, First Lady of Tennessee, and founder and president of the non-profit organization "You Have the Power . . .Know How to Use It."
