Yesterday (Sept 30), Circuit Judge Tesha Ballou sentenced Diderot SUFFRENA (39), to thirty (30) years in state prison after a Brevard Jury convicted him July 22, 2021, on two (2) counts of Burglary of a Dwelling with Battery (F1 PBL), and one (1) count of Attempted Sexual Battery (F3), and two (2) counts of Battery (M1). Judge Ballou dismissed the two misdemeanor counts as lessor included offenses, and sentenced SUFFRENA to 30 years for each of the Burglary counts, and 84.15 months (7 years) for the Attempted Sexual Battery, all to be served concurrently. She gave credit for 717 days already served, and also ordered fines, court costs, and restitution totaling just over $1100 dollars.

In a trial that lasted four (4) days, Assistant State Attorneys Bryon Aven and Nader Hatoum presented evidence to the jury who deliberated just 90 minutes before returning with the guilty on all counts verdicts.

Titusville Police reported that on May 17, 2018, at 11:45 am a house keeper at the Quality Inn at 3655 Cheney Highway was attacked by an unknown male who strangled her, and attempted to rape her. The victim fought back and was able to flee the motel room and get help. Based on  a description broadcast locally, Brevard County Sheriff's Deputies stopped SUFFRENA driving a matching vehicle in Port St. John shortly after the attack. The victim identified SUFFRENA as the person who had attacked her and he was arrested.

That investigation linked SUFFRENA to a second earlier incident on May 8, 2018, when an another house keeper at the Quality Inn reported an unknown male had entered a room she was cleaning and grabbed her by the uniform. She broke free and escaped, later identifying SUFFRENA as her attacker.

SUFFRENA was ordered held at the Brevard County Jail to await transfer to the Florida Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.
