October 29, 2021 Brandon PUTTY Sentenced to Life for 2018 Burglary and Hammer Attack

Monday (Oct 25), Circuit Judge Steve Henderson sentenced Brandon PUTTY (37), to Life in state prison after a Brevard Jury convicted him on one (1) count of Burglary of a Dwelling with Battery (F1 PBL), two (2) counts of Battery (M), and one (1) count of Petit Theft (M2). Judge Henderson also sentenced PUTTY to one (1) year for each Battery count, and sixty (60) days for the Petit Theft, all to be served concurrently with credit for 1150 days already served.

In a trial that lasted five (5) days, Assistant State Attorneys Michael Doyle and Chris Cusmano presented evidence to the jury who deliberated three hours before returning with the guilty verdicts.

Palm Bay Police reported that on June 10, 2018, at 3:45 am, they responded to a home on Haas Ave. NW where a female and male occupant were awoken and attacked by the woman's ex-boyfriend, wielding a blacksmith's hammer. The investigation revealed that the two victims were in bed when the family dog began scratching at the bedroom door. The woman went to check on her son sleeping in another room, when PUTTY jumped out of the closet and struck her in the head with the hammer, causing serious trauma and rendering her unconscious. The male went to her aide and was also struck by PUTTY with the hammer, but was able to wrestle the weapon away. PUTTY then fled, taking the woman's purse on his way out of the home. Police obtained a warrant for PUTTY's arrest and he was arrested as a fugitive on June 12, 2018, in Georgia

Public records show that PUTTY has a criminal history that includes prior burglary, theft, stalking, and domestic violence. PUTTY was also deemed a Prison Release Re-offender by having committed this crime within three years of his release from state prison.
