July 14, 2008 State Attorney's Office Files Charges In High Profile Animal Abuse Case

Prosecutors filed one first-degree misdemeanor charge of animal abuse Friday, May 9, in the case of Christina Abrams of Cocoa. Abrams was arrested on March 12 by Cocoa police on a charge of felony animal abuse.

Assistant State Attorney Wayne Holmes said a detailed investigation involving all facets of the crime resulted in the filing decision. Following state law, prosecutors cannot discuss evidentiary issues prior to the trial.
