March 10, 2022 - Laneitri ROLLINS Facing Adult Prosecution For Second-Degree Murder

Today (Mar 10), Judge Christina Serrano signed an Order of Transfer moving the prosecution of Laneitri ROLLINS (14) from the Juvenile Court to the adult Circuit Court. The action came after prosecutors direct filed an Information charging ROLLINS with one (1) count of Second-Degree Murder Reclassified While Inflicting Death (LF) in connection to the shooting of Mercutio Burford (17).

On February 9, 2022, at 1:00 pm, Titusville Police responded to the 900 block of N. Washington Avenue where Burford was found deceased near a bike path, having suffered multiple gun shot wounds. The subsequent investigation used crime scene, video surveillance,  and intelligence information to identify ROLLINS as a suspect. Investigators later recovered the suspected firearm used by ROLLINS at the time of the murder.

ROLLINS was arrested February 11, 2022, by Titusville PD and initially held at the Juvenile Detention Center. With today's action, ROLLINS will be transfered to the Brevard County Jail with No Bond. Please consult the Brevard Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by this defendant.
