- Seminole Grand Jury Indicts Ahmed RASLAN for First Degree Premeditated Murder
Today (May 10), the Seminole County Grand Jury indicted Ahmed RASLAN (38), for First Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), in connection to the death of Mahmood Kouther Abdullatif Al Taee (59), maintenance worker at the Husseini Islamic Center on Hester Avenue in Sanford.
RASLAN was also indicted on one (1) count of Burglary of a Structure with Battery (F1 PBL) and one (1) count of Grand Theft (Motor Vehicle) F3.
On March 24, 2022, just before 9:00 am, Seminole County Deputies responded to a 9-11 call from the Husseini Islamic Center. Upon arrival they discovered a deceased male with multiple traumatic injuries to his head, subsequently identified as Al Taee. Witnesses reported seeing Al Taee's blue van leaving the facility just prior to discovering his body. While investigating the crime scene, investigators recovered a case containing a cell phone and the photo of a male. It was later learned that the phone belonged to RASLAN, and he was also the person in the photo.
Later that same day (Mar 24), Indian River County deputies located Al Taee's stolen van as it was being parked in a shopping center in Vero Beach. When deputies attempted to take the driver (RASLAN) into custody, he exited the van and refused commands to surrender. Instead, RASLAN reached into the van as if retrieving a weapon and was shot by deputies. A murder warrant was issued for RASLAN and upon his release from the hospital, was transferred to the Seminole County Jail where he remains on No Bond.
The Grand Jury heard testimony from a Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Investigator before returning with the indictments.
