July 13, 2022 - Brevard Grand Jury Indicts Two for First-Degree Murder

On Tuesday (Jul 12), the Brevard County Grand Jury indicted Cory LYLE (48), for First-Degree Felony Murder (CF), Armed Burglary of a Dwelling (F1 PBL), two counts of Grand Theft Firearm (F3) plus one count of Grand Theft (F3); and Amos-Alize JONES JR (25), for two counts of First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), one count of Attempted First-Degree Premeditated Murder (F1), and Armed Burglary of a Dwelling (F1 PBL), in separate incidents.

LYLE was identified by Brevard County Sheriff's Deputies as the person who shot and killed Joseph Hall (64), on June 9, 2022, while at his home on Hunt Drive in Merritt Island. LYLE remained in the residence taking several items before fleeing. Using security video and witness testimony, a warrant was obtained for LYLE's arrest. He was taken into custody and held without bond on June 11, 2022.

JONES was identified by Titusville Police as the person who shot three people on June 10, 2022, at a tent located on a vacant lot on S. Brown Avenue. JONES killed Eileen Marconi-Rodgers (58), and Jazmyn Davis (24), while critically injuring Housai Walker (47). When police responded to reports of gunshots, they found Walker badly wounded but able to identify his attacker as “Amos”. Police later positively identified JONES as the person described by Walker and linked him to the crimes using witness testimony and physical evidence. He was taken into custody and held without bond on June 10, 2022.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from Investigators with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Titusville Police, and the Brevard County Medical Examiner before returning the indictments.

LYLE and JONES will continue to be held on No Bond at the Brevard County Jail. No trial dates have been set in these cases. Please consult the Brevard Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by these defendants.
