- Seminole Grand Jury Indicts Three for First-Degree Murder
Yesterday (Aug 9), the Seminole County Grand Jury issued murder indictments for three defendants in three separate incidents.
Juan BRAVO-TORRES (39), was indicted for First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), and Attempted First-Degree Murder (LF) in connection to the death of Eva Bravo-Herrera (3), and the attempted murder of a 12-year old at his home on Highland Street in Longwood on July 21, 2022.
An investigation by Longwood Police established that BRAVO-TORRES using a knife, had attacked both Eva and the second child in the residence. The 12-year old was critically wounded but able to flee, running to a nearby restaurant where her mother worked. Officers gained entrance to the home and found Eva deceased, and BRAVO-TORRES suffering from multiple self-inflicted stab wounds. BRAVO-TORRES was hospitalized for his injuries and later arrested.
Gary WASHINGTON (44), was indicted for First-Degree Murder by Distribution of a Controlled Substance (CF), Delivery of Fentanyl (F2), and Unlawful Use of Two-Way Communication Device (F3) in connection to the drug overdose death of Carolina Orrego Carvajal (27).
On May 21, 2022, Altamonte Springs Police Officers responded to the Ramada on Douglas Avenue where hotel staff had found Orrego Carvajal deceased in the hallway outside a room. A subsequent investigation established that WASHINGTON had taken Orrego Carvajal to the hotel and provided her with the fentanyl that the medical examiner later determined had killed her.
Andre CRIST (51), was indicted for First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), Attempted First-Degree Murder (CF), and Possession of Firearm By Convicted Felon (F2), in connection to the death of Cliff Perard (38) and the attempted murder of Cheron Barosy (39) in Sanford on July 21, 2022.
An investigation by Sanford Police established that CRIST was being evicted from his apartment on Anderson Circle by the homeowner landlord Perard and assisted by a neighbor Barosy, when a heated dispute broke out. CRIST initially left the apartment but returned armed with a firearm, shooting and killing Perard, and wounding Barosy who was able to flee and survive his injuries.
The Grand Jury heard testimony from Longwood, Sanford, and Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Investigators before returning with the indictments.
BRAVO-TORRES, WASHINGTON, and CRIST are all being held on No Bond at the Seminole County Jail and no trial date has been set in their cases. Please consult the Seminole Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by these defendants.
