- Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Did you know October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month? https://bit.ly/3kXaGjC
Sometimes, people don’t realize they are in an abusive relationship. They’re used to their partner calling them crazy or making them feel like everything is their own fault. By raising awareness during October, it’s possible to get people caught in dangerous relationships the help and support they need to break the cycle of violence. Want to help? Consider searching #DomesticViolenceHelp in your browser.
If you or someone you know are experiencing domestic abuse, please click here https://www.thehotline.org/ for help. If you are in danger, call 911.
This month if you visit our Viera office you'll see purple pinwheels placed thier by volunteers and staff of Serene Harbor, a certified Domestic Violence shelter. The display is in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and purple is universally used in almost all nonprofits that support survivors of domestic violence.
Congratulations to the Brevard Domestic Violence Task Force for their ongoing efforts to combat domestic violence in our community. They were recently recognized by the Brevard County Commission in a Resolution proclaiming October to be Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I’d like to thank Assistant State Attorneys Kipp Vugteveen (far right) and Linda Barnett (3rd from right), along with Victim Advocate Janet Pearson (4th from right) for their outstanding effort and service on the Task Force
We're proud of our partnership with the Brevard County Domestic Violence Task Force and gratefull for the support of Serene Harbor in assisting victims and their families.
