November 8, 2022 - Seminole Grand Jury Indicts Theodis JONES JR for First-Degree Premeditated Murder

Today (Nov 8), the Seminole County Grand Jury indicted Theodis JONES JR. (62), for First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF); Attempted Robbery with a Firearm Inflicting Death (F1 PBL); Armed Burglary of a Conveyance Inflicting Death (F1 PBL), and Tampering with Evidence (F3), in connection to the death of Kameron Alston (30).

On September 18, 2022, at 8:30 pm, Seminole County Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive person in a car parked on Roseberry Lane in unincorporated Sanford. Deputies discovered a deceased male, later identified as Alston behind the wheel of the car. The Lake County Medical Examiner determined Alston died from a single gunshot wound to the chest, ruling the death a homicide.

After an extensive weeks-long investigation, SCSO investigators identified JONES as the person who had shot Alston. On October 7, 2022, a warrant for murder was obtained for JONES and he was taken into custody on October 11, 2022, in Orange County. JONES was later transferred to the Seminole County Jail where he remains on No Bond.

In an interview after his arrest, JONES told investigators that Alston had robbed him during a drug deal in June. In retaliation, JONES was attempting to rob Alston when he accidentally shot and killed him.

No trial date has been set in this case. Please consult the Seminole Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by this defendant.
