April 18, 2023 - Seminole Grand Jury Indicts 3 for First-Degree Murder

Yesterday (Apr 17), the Seminole County Grand Jury issued murder indictments for three defendants in two separate incidents.

Dequan WOODS (21), and Bobby BRIDGES III (28), were indicted for First-Degree Felony Murder (CF), and Attempted Robbery with a Firearm Inflicting Death (F2), in connection to the death of Dereck Cummings (31), in Casselberry on January 28, 2023.

A months long investigation by Casselberry Police established that WOODS and BRIDGES had targeted Cummings for a robbery in the parking lot of Carrington Park Condominiums. After a brief struggle, multiple shots were fired with Cummings being struck and killed. Investigators utilized witness testimony, surveillance video, and mobile phone data to link both WOODS and BRIDGES to the murder. Arrest warrants were obtained for both men and they were taken into custody earlier this month.

Jerald WILLIAMS (32), was indicted for First-Degree Felony Murder (CF), in connection to the death of Harry Hoover (56), in Apopka (unincorporated Seminole County) on August 18, 2011.

Hoover had been found deceased in his home, having suffered a single gunshot wound causing his death. Deputies quickly identified WILLIAMS as a suspect, however, there was insufficient evidence to charge him. In 2019 the case was reviewed by cold case detectives who developed new information and evidence. As a result, WILLIAMS was identified as the person who had shot Hoover, leading to his arrest on March 13, 2023.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from Casselberry and Seminole County Sheriff’s Office Detectives, before returning with the indictments.

WOODS and BRIDGES are all being held on No Bond, while WILLIAMS is being held on a 1-Million-Dollar Bond at the Seminole County Jail. No trial date has been set in these cases. Please consult the Seminole Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by these defendants.
