- Brevard Grand Jury Indicts Lonnie ROBINSON and Kathleen OBRIEN in Drug Delivery Murders
Today (May 9), the Brevard County Grand Jury issued First-Degree Murder indictments for two defendants in two separate drug delivery death incidents.
Lonnie ROBINSON (49) was indicted for First-Degree Felony Murder by Distribution of a Controlled Substance (CF), and Sale or Delivery of Fentanyl (F2), in connection to the death of Richard “Sean” Carlin (36).
On January 24, 2021, Brevard County Deputies responded to Venetian Way in Merritt Island, where Sean Carlin was found by his wife deceased in the yard of the residence. A subsequent investigation established that Carlin died from fentanyl toxicity and that ROBINSON had provided the fentanyl that killed him.
Kathleen OBRIEN (52) was indicted for First-Degree Felony Murder by Distribution of a Controlled Substance (CF); Sale or Delivery of Fentanyl (F2), Tampering with Physical Evidence (F3), Possession of Cocaine (F3), Possession of Alprazolam (F3), Possession of more than 20 Grams of Cannabis (F3), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (M1), in connection to the drug overdose death of Frederick Massey (69).
On January 23, 2023, Indian Harbour Beach Police Officers responded to Flotilla Club Drive where a 911 call had been received from OBRIEN reporting a person overdosing in her home. Police found Massey deceased on the living room floor and a second person suffering the effects of a drug overdose in the bedroom. A subsequent investigation established that Massey died from fentanyl toxicity and that OBRIEN had provided the fentanyl that killed him.
The Grand Jury heard testimony from Investigators with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Indian Harbour Beach Police Department, along with the Medical Examiner before returning with the indictments.
Both defendants are in custody at the Brevard County Jail on No Bond. No trial date has been set in these cases. Please consult the Brevard Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by these defendants.
