June 2, 2023 - Christian ALEXANDER Enters Plea to Manslaughter in Drug Delivery Death

On Wednesday (May 31), Christian Alexander (27), entered a plea to Manslaughter (F2) in connection to the drug overdose death of Edward Sweat II (18), on August 22, 2021.

ALEXANDER was adjudicated guilty by Circuit Judge Melissa Souto and sentenced to six (6) years in prison, followed by two (2) years of community control, two (2) years of supervised drug offender probation, 200 hours of community service, and ordered to pay $618.00 in fines and court costs. ALEXANDER received credit for 450 days of time served.

In a statement after the sentencing, State Attorney Phil Archer said, “This conviction represents the continuing effort by this office and law enforcement to arrest and prosecute criminal drug dealers whose illegal trade has resulted in the overdose deaths of so many people in our community.” He added, “If someone loses their life taking your dangerous drugs, expect to pay for that with years of your life in prison.”

Case History

On August 22, 2021, Seminole County Deputies responded to an apartment on Orienta Drive where Edward Sweat had been found deceased by members of his family.  ALEXANDER was identified by Seminole County Sheriff's Deputies as the person who provided the Fentanyl to Sweat causing his death. Using that information, undercover agents conducted a weeklong investigation arresting ALEXANDER after he delivered them Fentanyl and other controlled substances on August 30, 2021. ALEXANDER was indicted by a Seminole County Grand Jury on March 8, 2022.
