September 18, 2023 - Luis RAMOS FIGUEROA Found Guilty in 2020 First-Degree Murder

On Thursday (Sept 14),  a Brevard County Jury found Luis RAMOS FIGUEROA (19), guilty of First-Degree Felony Murder with Firearm (CF), Robbery with a Weapon (F1), and Tampering with Physical Evidence (F3) in connection with the shooting death of Daniel Ramos (19), in 2020.
 
Circuit Judge Tesha Scolaro Ballou presided over the six (6) day trial with evidence presented by Assistant State Attorneys Jason Anderson and William Scheiner. RAMOS FIGUEROA did not testify and after approximately three and a half (3.5) hours of deliberation, the jury returned with the guilty verdicts.
 
Judge Scolaro Ballou adjudicated RAMOS FIGUEROA guilty, ordered him held in custody, and set sentencing for November 14, 2023, at 1:30 pm. RAMOS FIGUEROA, who was 16 at the time of the crime but prosecuted as an adult, is facing the possibility of a conditional life sentence.
 
On November 10, 2020, RAMOS FIGUEROA and Martaz SUGAR were indicted by a Grand Jury in connection with the robbery and shooting death of Daniel Ramos (19), at the Mission Bay Apartments in Rockledge July 3rd, 2020. 
 
On June 7, 2023, SUGAR entered a plea of guilty to Second-Degree Murder with Firearm (F1), Robbery with a Firearm, and Tampering with Evidence (F3), and was sentenced by Judge Scolaro Ballou to thirty (30) years in prison, followed by ten (10) years of supervised probation.
