September 27, 2023 - Seminole Grand Jury Indicts 3 for First-Degree Murder

Yesterday (Sept 26), the Seminole County Grand Jury issued murder indictments for three defendants in three separate incidents.

Joel BAUZA (50), was indicted for First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), in connection to the death of Joysee Cartagena Clemente (49), in Sanford on July 17, 2023.

A weeks long investigation by Sanford Police established that BAUZA had strangled Cartagena to death in their home during a domestic dispute. Initially BAUZA reported that he found the victim deceased after returning home from work, however Investigators utilized witness testimony, surveillance video, and mobile phone data to tie BAUZA to the murder. BAUZA was arrested on August 31, 2023, and held on No Bond.

Marquez HENDERSON (26), was indicted for First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), in connection to the death of Jarkevis Canada (24), in Sanford on August 19, 2023.

HENDERSON confronted Canada in the parking lot of the Georgia Arms apartment, where witnesses observed him shoot the victim and flee the scene. Investigators obtained a warrant for his arrest and he was captured on August 28, 2023, in South Daytona. HENDERSON remains in custody on No Bond.

Donovan FAISON (21), was indicted on two counts of First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), Burglary of a Conveyance with Battery and Firearm (F1), and Killing an Unborn Child by Injury to the Mother (F2), in connection to the shooting death of Kaylin Fiengo (19), and her unborn child in Sanford on November 11, 2022.

Sanford Police discovered Fiengo deceased behind the wheel of her car in Coastline Park, the victim of a fatal gunshot wound. After an exhaustive months long investigation, detectives were able to establish that Fiengo had met with FAISON at the park to discuss her being pregnant with his child. Already in a relationship, FAISON killed Fiengo after she refused to abort the pregnancy. A warrant was obtained for FAISON and he was charged on August 29, 2023, while in custody for another offense. FAISON is being held on No Bond at the Seminole County Jail.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from Sanford Police Investigators, and the Lake County Medical Examiner before returning with the indictments.
