October 4, 2023 - Juvenile Defendants Charged as Adults in Lake Mary High School Attack

Today (Oct 4), Judge Melissa Souto signed an Order of Transfer moving the prosecution of Brandin BUSH-WILLIAMS (16), and Antwan JORDAN (14), from the Juvenile Court to the adult Circuit Court.

The action came after prosecutors filed an Information charging BUSH-WILLIAMS and JORDAN with one (1) count each of Aggravated Battery (F2), in connection to a violent attack on a student at Lake Mary High School on May 03, 2023.

The disturbing, violent, and serious nature of the crime, the extensive permanent injuries sustained by the victim, and the defendants refusal to accept responsibility for their actions, produced this decision. The public interest in preserving the safety and security of everyone in an educational setting requires the state to seek sanctions in this case only available in the adult criminal justice system.

Under FS 985.557 certain juvenile offenders aged 14 to 17, charged with qualifying offenses, can be prosecuted in the adult criminal court.

Please consult the Seminole Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by these defendants.
