March 9, 2009 Brevard County Grand Jury Indicts Two Cocoa Teens as Adults

The Brevard County Grand Jury returned first-degree felony-murder indictments today (March 3) against Shawnell Johnson, 16, 1010 N. Fiske Ave., and Jameil Tyson, 17, 809 B Street, for the Feb. 5 death of Stephen Paul Lacey, 23.

The Grand Jury also indicted the pair on one charge each of home-invasion robbery, said Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt who presented the case to the Grand Jury.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from a Brevard County Sheriffs Office crime scene investigator, a Cocoa Police Detective, and three lay witnesses. Both of the youths were arrested by Cocoa Police the day of the shooting and have remained in the Brevard County Juvenile Detention Facility. They will be moved to the adult facility and are scheduled for first appearances on the charges tomorrow.
