Wednesday, (Feb 21), Bulaine MOLME (38), entered a plea to the offense of Leaving Children Unattended or Unsupervised in Motor Vehicle with Injury (F3), for the May 2023 death of her infant child Fendra Molme.  Circuit Judge Aaron Peacock then sentenced MOLME to two (2) years of supervised probation, substance testing, and installation of a backseat car alert system when transporting any child under 6 years of age. MOLME was also ordered to pay investigative costs totaling $483.40.

 

While preparing the case for possible trial, prosecutors became aware of several factors that contributed to the outcome, as well as MOLME's belief at the time that Fendra had been removed from the car. Witnesses spoke on behalf of MOLME, including her husband Jn Marc Molme who conveyed the impact of his daughter's death on the family and concern for the remaining three children should their mother face a lengthy prison sentence. 

 

Plea negotiations began after MOLME fully cooperated with the investigation and accepted responsibility for leaving her child unattended in the car. With no prior criminal history, and after consulting with law enforcement, prosecutors filed the 3rd degree felony in exchange for MOLME’s plea. The agreement included supervised probation, substance testing, education, treatment, and other sanctions intended to protect the family and the community.

 

Should MOLME violate the provisions of her probation, she could face a maximum sentence of five (5) years in state prison.
