March 13, 2024 - Brevard Grand Jury Indicts Nicholas DELGADO in Palm Bay Drug Murder

On Tuesday (Mar 12), a Brevard Grand Jury indicted Nicholas DELGADO (34), on one (1) count of First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), and one count (1) of Armed Burglary of a Dwelling (F1 PBL), in connection to the death of Salvatore Callari (28), in Palm Bay.

On January 10, 2019, at approximately 1:38 pm, Kristen Brodie returned home to find her live-in boyfriend Callari, dead on the floor of the kitchen. She called 911, and Palm Bay Police began a months long investigation that established Callari had been shot to death during a drug related burglary to the home. Investigators identified Charles SWITZER (53), and Robert WILLIAMS (33), as suspects and matched DNA from SWITZER to blood found at the scene near Callari's body. Forensic evidence tied both men to the crime, along with a written plan for the burglary. A third suspect DELGADO was also identified, but investigators initially lacked sufficient evidence to charge him.

Both SWITZER and WILLIAMS entered guilty pleas for their role in Salvatore's murder and agreed to testify against DELGADO. Each is currently serving a 22 year prison sentence.

DELGATO was arrested March 12, 2024, hours after the indictment was issued and is being held on No Bond in the Brevard County Jail.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from a Palm Bay Criminal Investigator and Crime Scene Technician, along with the Brevard County Medical Examiner.  The State will have 45 days after arraignment to determine if the death penalty should apply in this case.

No trial date has been set in this case. Please consult the Brevard Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by this defendant.
