June 18, 2024 - Seminole Grand Jury Indicts Corie PHILLIPS and Talil VANN

Today (Jun 18), the Seminole County Grand Jury issued indictments for two defendants in two separate incidents.

Corie PHILLIPS (52) was indicted for First-Degree Felony Murder by Distribution of a Controlled Substance (CF) in connection to the death of Tony Blake (54).

On July 28, 2023, Seminole County Deputies responded to Kenneth Avenue in Casselberry, where Tony Blake was found by witnesses deceased inside his residence. A subsequent investigation established that Blake died from combined drug toxicity with methamphetamine and fentanyl, and that PHILLIPS had provided the drugs that killed him. A warrant was issued for PHILLIPS arrest, and he was taken into custody on May 17, 2024.

Talil VANN (22) was indicted for Sexual Battery of a Victim Less than 12 Years of Age (CF), and Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance (F2).

On April 7, 2024, Altamonte Springs Police investigated a reported sexual battery involving a child victim under 12 years of age. It was learned that the victim had been contacted on social media by VANN who was posing as another child. After engaging the victim in multiple conversations and exchanging photographs, VANN lured the victim to a meeting where the sexual battery took place. Using testimony and electronic data, investigators identified VANN and a warrant was issued for his arrest. VANN was taken into custody on May 22, 2024.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from Investigators with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and Altamonte Springs Police Department, before returning with the indictments.

Both defendants remain in custody at the Seminole County Jail on No Bond. No trial date has been set in these cases. Please consult the Seminole Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by these defendants.
