- Seminole Grand Jury Indicts 5 Defendants Including 2 Juveniles
Tuesday (Sept 10), the Seminole County Grand Jury issued multiple indictments for five (5) defendants in four separate incidents.
Dra’shawn Davon WILLIAMS (15), and William Orlando SMITH, JR (17), were indicted for First-Degree Felony Murder (CF), and Attempted Robbery with a Firearm (F2), in connection to the shooting death of Brandon Leo (22). The State will be prosecuting both defendants as adults.
On July 20, 2024, Sanford Police responded to a call of shots fired on West 3rd Street and located a pickup truck partially submerged in a retention pond containing the body of Leo. A subsequent investigation established that Williams and Smith shot and killed Leo during a meeting to purchase headphones.
Santana Devon SUTTON (51),was indicted for First-Degree Murder (CF), Attempted First-Degree Premeditated Murder (LF), Armed Burglary of a Dwelling with Battery (F1 PBL), Attempted First-Degree Felony Murder (LF), and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon (F2), in connection to the shooting death of James Williams Jr. (44).
On August 11, 2024, Sanford Police responded to a reported shooting on Barewood Lane and discovered one female and one male victim, Williams Jr. Both were transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds; however, Williams Jr did not survive. A subsequent investigation established that SUTTON had shot both victims in response to a failed romantic relationship.
Johnson GAY (27), was indicted for First-Degree Murder by Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance (CF), in connection to the drug overdose death of William Moore (25).
On August 7, 2024, Seminole County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Bottlebrush Loop in unincorporated Sanford, where they found Moore deceased from what the medical examiner later determined to be a fatal dose of Fentanyl. A subsequent investigation established that GAY had provided the Fentanyl that killed Moore.
Pedro H. VAZQUEZ (36), was indicted for Sexual Battery on a Victim under 12 (CF), 2 counts of Lewd Molestation (F1), 4 counts of Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance (F2), Video Voyeurism of a Child (F3), and 22 counts of Possession of Material Depicting Sexual Conduct by a Child (F3).
In August of 2024, Altamonte Springs Police received information that images containing suspected child pornography had been transmitted to a cloud storage service by a digital device belonging to VAZQUEZ. A subsequent investigation established that VAZQUEZ had recorded numerous digital images and video that included his sexual abuse of minor victims under the age of 12.
