December 11, 2024 - Seminole Grand Jury Indicts Savon TYLER and Lakevia PRINGLE for First-Degree Murder

On Tuesday (Dec 10), the Seminole County Grand Jury indicted Savon TYLER (35),  and Lakevia PRINGLE (31), on one (1) count each of First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), in the shooting death of Lauren Martin (34), in Sanford.

On November 5th, 2024, Sanford Police responded to reports of a shooting on Travertine Terrace and found Martin lying in the road suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to the hospital but died from her injuries the following day. The Medical Examiner later ruled the death a homicide.

The subsequent investigation established that Martin had traveled by car to the roadway in front of TYLER's home in response to a dispute. This led to a confrontation and physical altercation with TYLER. PRINGLE was live streaming the confrontation on social media as well as participating in the events leading up to it. The confrontation ended when TYLER retrieved a firearm she positioned in advance and shot Martin.

TYLER provided a statement to investigators that she was in fear of Martin when she shot her. However, evidence from the scene, the recorded video, as well as witness testimony did not support the claim of self-defense.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from a Sanford Police investigator before returning with the indictments.

Both TYLER and PRINGLE are being held at the Seminole County Jail without bond. No trial date has been set in this case. Please consult the Brevard Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by these defendants.
