May 3, 2010 Top Cop, Advocate, Prosecutor Named During Victims Rights Week

Assistant State Attorney Susan Stewart's advocacy for victims
in the courtroom earned her the selection of Attorney of the Year during
the annual commemoration of National Crime Victims' Rights last week.
A prosecutor for 15 years, Stewart treats victims with the fairness,
dignity and respect they deserve, said State Attorney Norman Wolfinger
in announcing the award.

Palm Bay Police Officer Chris VanZandt was selected as
the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. The State Attorney's Office
solicited nominees for the awards from agencies across the criminal
justice spectrum and from the general public.

Top Victim Advocates announced were Glori Borges from the South
Brevard Women's Center and Sheralyn Blake-Jenkins from the State
Attorney's Office. Outstanding Service Awards went to Denise Williams,
secretary to the county's Sexual Assault Victim Services unit, and
Jacqueline Ares, also of the South Brevard Women's Center.

The Howard Futch Leadership Award went to Joe Robinson,
Executive Director of the North Brevard Charities Sharing Center in
Titusville for the past 13 years. Robinson was selected for the award
because of the many ways he has inspired and organized others to assist
people in need in the North Brevard area.
