February 20, 2024 - Xichen YANG Enters Guilty Plea in Murder of Nhu Pham

Today (Feb 20), Xichen YANG (23), entered a plea to the offenses of Second-Degree Murder (F1), and Tampering with Evidence (F3) in the death of his wife, Nhu Pham (20). YANG was adjudicated guilty and sentenced by Circuit Judge William Orth to forty (40) years in state prison. YANG was also ordered to pay the fines, court costs, and fees totaling $11,675.87.

Plea negotiations began after defense attorneys indicated that YANG would be willing to admit his guilt and accept the 40 year sentence in exchange for the state waiving the First-Degree Murder charge. Prosecutors consulted with members of Pham's family and law enforcement who both agreed to the negotiated resolution.

This agreement represents prosecutors best efforts to consider the personal desires of those affected by this tragedy and deliver justice on behalf of Nhu Pham.

YANG was identified by Altamonte Springs Police as the person who killed his wife Nhu Pham, on June 21, 2022, after a domestic argument at the couple's apartment on Ballard Street. YANG told a witness and investigators he cut his wife with a knife after becoming angry with her. Yang was arrested that same day, held on No Bond, and then indicted by a Seminole County Grand Jury on July 12, 2022.
